Tuvar Daal Tadka

Tuvar daal has lots of protein and should be consumed everyday. Here is a gujarati way of cooking this delicious dal to consume everyday. It is different as it is both sweet & spicy. For perople who cannot eat spicy food this is a good option.


1 cup toor/tur/tuvar daal

1 glass water

1 tbsp oil

1/4 tsp cumin seeds

1/4 tsp mustered seeds

1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds

1 pinch aesephodite (hing)

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp salt1 tbsp jaggery

1/2 tsp red chilli powder

1/2 tsp coriander powder

1 tomato

1/2 tsp curry leaves

2 green chillies

3-4 dried red chillies

1 tbsp cup coriander leaves


Boil tuvar dal in cooker- Heat the oil & add cumin seeds, aesephodite, mustered seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, green     chillies, dried red chillies- After tempering the above ingredients add tomato – Cook for 2 minutes & add boiled/mashed dal- Add all spices – salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder. jaggery- Cook for 10 minutes, add coriander leaves- Serve hot with rice or roti.
