Vegetables

Vegetables can be described as plants consumed as food or the edible plants which can be made the main part of the food. We all know, plants consist of root, stem, leaves, flowers, fruits & seeds. We have been consuming vegetables since ages now.

In this world, the class of people who consume only vegetables, fruits, grains & seeds are known as vegetarians. Majority of people are now considering vegetarianism as a way of living after learning its benefits.

Vegetables are important part of healthy eating and provide a source of many nutrients, including potassium, fiber, folate (folic acid) and vitamins A, E and C

Some of the vegetables which we generally consume daily are-

  • Leafy green – lettuce, spinach, fenugreek.
  • Cruciferous – cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli.
  • Marrow – pumpkin, cucumber, and zucchini.
  • Root – potato, sweet potato, carrots, radish, ginger, green turmeric, and yam.
  • Seeds – Lady’s finger, eggplant, green peas, tomatoes
  • Edible plant stem – celery, coriander, and asparagus.
  • Allium – onion, garlic, and shallot.

In various parts of the world, vegetables are cooked in a hundred different ways. Some like to consume it boiled or raw. while some like to use it as a consuming part of daily meal mixed with variety of different spices.
